MVL participated in the development of the resource referral workshop and the free legal clinic in collaboration with Colorado Legal Services, The Colorado Commission on Indian Affairs, the Denver Anti-discrimination Office at City and County of Denver; the Denver and Colorado Bar Associations, DNA Legal Services, the Durango officeof CLS, and others in the American Indian Communities here and in the Four Corners Area.  This collaborative effort developed in response to the Colorado Access to Justice Commission's 2008 Report that showed a severely large gap in access to justice for Native Americans.

In this effort, it has become our mission "To make legal assistance more available to Indian people and to expand awareness among agency staff regarding legal issues and resources for Native Americans." The workshop will be focused on informing resource providers about the available resources for Native Americans so that they will be better able to make good referrals to assist Native Americans who contact them.  We thank the organizers, hosts, and sponsors of this year's E-RACE! events for making it possible for us to participate in this conference.
